Adjectives describe nouns. When using the comparative forms of the adjectives, different nouns are compared.
Example:
In this example the noun 'car' is being compared. My car is fast, but Peter's car is faster than mine. Roger's car however, is the fastest of the three.
The comparing of regular adjectives adds the ending '-are' in the comparative and the ending '-ast' in the superlative.
Basic form | Comparative | Superlative |
snabb | snabbare | snabbast |
fin | finare | finast |
tråkig | tråkigare | tråkigast |
